[Solved / Archived] can i connect a battery to the dc input connector and usb power at the same time

id like to run off usb power but fall back to a battery if there is a power failure.

not sure if i can have both connected at the same time

@stephen not sure you mean Witty Pi 4 (full size) or Witty Pi 4 L3V7, because both can be connected to battery (with different voltages though).

Witty Pi 4 (full size) has only one power input channel: the 5V on USB-C connector directly connects to the 5V output of the on-board DC/DC converter. You should not use both at the same time, or the two power sources may fight to each other if their voltages are different.

Witty Pi 4 L3V7 is designed to use battery as backup when power supply on USB-C connector is down. On page 2 in its user manual, there is an introduction of its built-in UPS functionality. If your battery is a 3.7V lithium battery, this seems to be a perfect match.

Just for your information, Zero2Go Omini has 3 separated power input channels, which can also be used as UPS. However it doesn't have the ability to charge the battery.

ive been having a difficult day so sorry again  i have a wittypi 4 but thanks to you i just ordered a witty pi 4 L3V7  thats exactly what I need
