[Solved / Archived] Vivid Unit: why RK3399?

no talking here about vivid unit, yet.

so why did uugear developers chose rk3399?

Although RK3399 has been in the market for quite a few years, it is still a good SoC and its performance is much better than the BCM2711 SoC used on Raspberry Pi 4. Comparing to those newer SoCs, RK3399 has rather mature software stack and that maximizes the user experience.

Also we have very clear view of Vivid Unit's positioning: it is not replacing a desktop PC. We try to find a balance between performance, thermal energy loss and cost.

RK3588 is very popular recently. It is so powerful that it can be used as desktop PC, but it is also very hot, power consuming and expensive. We don't think RK3588 can fit the positioning of Vivid Unit.
