Today i found out about vividunit from this article and exactly what i have been looking for a long time.

question:What is the ampere/watts need for powersupply?
I wasn't able to find any power rating for 5v adapter from website.., can i use standard smartphone charger for it? or is there any requirement like 3A 15W like similar to raspberry pi 4?
or can i even run from a powerbank or battery ?

We have measured Vivid Unit's power consumption, but forgot to put the data into technical specification. Thanks for reminding and now we have added them.

Power Consumption

  • Quiescent current (newly powered, or stay for a while after shutdown): < 15mA
  • Idle current (after boot up and display desktop): ~ 0.6A
  • Normal usage (e.g. watching Youtube fullscreen): 0.8 ~ 1.3A
  • Fully loaded (stress test with "s-tui" command): ~ 1.6A

According to these data, using a 5V/2A adapter should be enough. Considering some adapters may be overrated,  choosing a 5V/2.5A adapter should be pretty safe.

You can of course power Vivid Unit with a power bank, or a battery with DC/DC converter that outputs 5V, as long as it can delivery the required current.
