Hi,

I am trying to reinstall the os as I'm missing something in the kernel. I wanted to try the image from your site first before asking.

But, my device is not being recognized in maskrom mode.

I start the flashing software (FactoryTool_v1.81), plug in the usb c connection on both sides, then press the maskrom button and then 1 sec later power button. After 1sec I release power button, then 1 sec later maskrom button.

The vivid unit doesn't show up in the software, though.

I also tried on a different windows machine with no luck.

Thanks for a reply that would help

After connecting USB C to computer, you need to press and hold the maskrom button and do not release it, meanwhile use another hand to press the power button and hold it for about 5 seconds. Then you should see the device show up in the software.

We have tried it now several times the way you described, but it won't get recognized.

I forgot to mention, that usb c power, which is drawn from my notebook is sufficiant. So, when I start vivid unit regularly from usb c (plugged in the notebook) it starts and operates in normal ways.

If you confirm your USB-C cable is good, then maybe you need to install the RK USB driver to have the device recognized.

Please download this ZIP file: https://www.vividunit.com/download/tools/DriverAssitant_v5.11.zip

Unzip it and run the DriverInstall.exe inside, this tool allows you to install/uninstall the RK USB driver.

After that you can run the factory tool again, and it should be recognized.

So I have no windows lower than 11 and none that is based on intel - all I have are ARM machines. I have been able to compile rkdeveloptool and can see/flash the vivid unit, but I cannot get it to work. Any ideas on how we can use this with the vivisxxxxx.img Debian os file?

No matter what I do my ARM windows will not allow the drivers to be installed and will not see the board in that factory app that is supposed to flash the firmware.

Any help would be really appreciated...

@nathan Maybe the simplest way is to find/borrow an X86 PC with Windows installed. You only need to use it for a few minutes to flash the system.

It doesn't worth the effort/time to find other methods.
