Description
Dear customers, this product has been retired. The newer and better version of USB hub is here.
This is a 7-port USB hub designed for Raspberry Pi, its main features include:
- USB 1.1 and 2.0 compatible
- Multiple Transaction Translator (MTT)
- Has same PCB size with Raspberry Pi
- Stackable and Mountable via copper cylinders and screws
- Plug and Play
- Connect up to 7 high powered devices at once
- 1 LED to indicate power supply
- 7 LEDS to indicate individual port activity
- Per port over-current detection and protection
- Support both self-power and bus-power modes
The sizing and mounting holes of the hub perfectly match those of Raspberry Pi (model A and B), thus the hub could be mounted on Raspberry Pi in various ways. It is the best choice to extend USB ports for using UUGear solution.
It allows you to connect up to seven USB devices to a single USB port on Raspberry Pi. This device complies with USB 2.0 specifications and is compatible with all USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices. You can even stack multiple hubs together to support up to 127 devices through a single USB port on Raspberry Pi.
Different than those cheap USB hubs that use Single Transaction Translator (STT) solution, this hub uses GL852 chips and implements Multiple Transaction Translator (MTT) solution. Each downstream port of the hub has its own transaction translator to provide the best USB performance, no matter what class of USB device is connected it. As a result, when you connect a USB 1.1 device to one port on this hub, other USB 2.0 devices on the hub will not slow down.
Both bus-power and self-power modes are supported. When powering the hub with external AC power adapter, each port can provide up to 1,000mA current, and you could configure the jumper to decide whether to backfeed Raspberry Pi or not. All USB ports and power supply are available on pin headers for integration purpose (see related extension cable).

Ordered and received very quickly. I emailed a couple of times for clarification and got great responses. The product itself is really useful and the set up guides are very clear. I did have a couple of power issues using it in self powered mode, but it seems to be fine now and haven’t had a problem with it since the first couple of days and have had it about 3-4 weeks now. Definitely recommend for an RPi users.

It is a very nice board that perfectly fits the Raspberry Pi. I bought two units for my A and B model boards, and they all work well without any problem. This hub gives me much more ports for USB devices, and each of the port has enough amp output. I am using it to drive my portable hard drive and it never complains.
I am going to order the B board soon, and I hope uugear will release a new board that fits the model B , or at least an adapter that can help mounting the hub on the B .

This is indeed a very good product for my Raspberry Pi. With its help, I can use so many USB devices for my smart home controller project. It is not only more USB ports, but also solving the weak output current issue on Raspberry. Pricing is fair, and I am willing to buy more units if the price can go down a little bit 🙂

I was waiting for this hub for the whole day at home and DHL suddenly declared that they have tried delivering the package but “the receiver is not at home”. I heard this kind of thing before but never thought it could happen on me. I have to wait for another day to receive the package. However I know it is not UUgear’s fault and I would not blame you guys. The packaging is good and the quality of the hub is perfect.
Please consider selling a strong power adapter (such as 5V/2A or 5V/3A) to your customers. Since such an adapter is not that easy to find in the market. Thank you.

I bought this product so I could connect a number of Arduino’s to my Raspberry PI B for a near space high-altitude balloon project that I’m working on. Using the RPI as my flight computer and the Arduino’s to handle the sensors and GPS tracking.
The USB and project software examples worked as advertised! I was impressed by the elegance of the solution, see document under Projects Menu.
The Gear Solution includes a set of API’s in C and Python and it makes things friendly. In addition, the product is stack-able wit the RPI.
Quality is high. Very nice!!!
